What is TPMS?
European legislation requires that, as of November 1, 2014, all vehicles intended for passenger transport should be equipped with TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) as standard.
With a few rare exceptions, tire pressure is monitored by sensors installed in the tire inflation valves. Each sensor can measure tire pressure, temperature and movement. The sensors are powered by a small lithium battery and communicate with the control unit via a radio link.
Working with TPMS systems can be particularly challenging because there is no standard yet that governs their form, location, and radio frequency. Therefore, a technically enhanced tool is essential to effectively handle TPMS maintenance work.
Standard solution for TPMS TPS
TPS (Tyre Pressure Service) is TEXA's solution for tire related service operations. The TPS boasts TEXA's traditionally solid design and build quality, along with an exceptional coverage of makes and models.
After selecting the make and model of the vehicle, the TPS can communicate with the valve sensors on each wheel. Placing the tool near the sensors allows you to activate them and check their activity, even if they are currently in standby mode. The instrument's own display reads the pressure, temperature and battery charge level (where available) along with the relevant identification codes and all other diagnostic information provided by the vehicle manufacturer.
Exceptional skills at your disposal
TPS allows you to check the status of the sensors and replace them if necessary. The vehicle's own built-in database provides a list of compatible spare parts for each selected vehicle. TEXA's extensive database also provides other valuable information, including correct procedures for turning tires.
In the case of replacing a sensor with a universal replacement part, the TPS tool can program the new sensor to assign the same identification code as the old sensor and link it to the receiver or vehicle control unit.
The procedures are simplified with a highly intuitive menu that guides you step-by-step through all the options.
